Hey guys,

Its been a while since I was on here last due to yall properly diagnosing my bad coil problem! Ive been on the water almost every day for a month but when I got the motor out last time I noticed that there was some oil on the ground leaking off the bottom of the motor. Its coming out of a hole in between the oil fill and drain plugs on the lower unit. The hole the oil is coming from is closer to the top oil filler plug and to the left a lttle. Does anybody know what hole I'm talking about or what I can do about it?

How screwed am I???

Thanks guys,

Bradley

The hole is to drain water from the leg. Most likely what you are seing is exhaust residue.
It will smell gassy not the classic gear oil smell. If you suspect it is from the gearcase change the oil. If lube has leaked out water will have leaked in creating the look of coffee with cream.
or just plain water. The old style gearcases do leak oil sometimes And you can get seals to
fix them up.

Its definitely gear oil, but the color is only creamy sometimes. How do I get to the seal and what is the name of it? I was trying very hard to upload some good pictures I took of it but either my computer or the iboats upload thing wouldn't let me. Its just very frustrating
