I just picked up this MFG for free. she needs some clean up, but I think She will be fine.

But, I have no idea what year and model she is.

Ken . Peter,

Dont think She is a 60'. The Bow light on the 60' is very tight to the tip, where mine sits back a foot to 18inches.

Could be the 58' or 59' though. I am feelin the 59'

Will know more when I can get some measurements

the oval logo's are step pads to make bording the wet boat easier ... looking at the '60 brochure , the Celeron lists Mahogany bow / fore deck ; is yours wood or 'glass / I'm guessing Westfield or oxford... peter

Peter... Good catch about the mahogany. The more I look at photos etc.... the more I have noticed that the Celeron looks that way ( mahogany Bow ). I need to read the lit a bit... just going by photos up till now. Westfield or Oxford?? I will dig in and start trackin. Thanks for all the direction...... I'm in need :)

I think you nailed it Peter. Here are some photos of an Oxford. The Gunwales on the Westfield are raised, so that rules her out, and the bow light is different in styling. But the Oxford seems to match her perfectly. the one in these photos is a 59' I found these photos at http://www.oddjobmotors.com/mfg-oxford.htm

Re: 68, 69 or 70...

Have you figured out what is discoloring the lower hull?
I had an old boat here a while back that someone covered with Gluvit, the stuff turned yellow in the Sun. I think they were trying to seal the hull up but got carried away. I took hours of careful wet sanding to get the hull back to it's original white. I never did find any leaks other than a makeshift drain plug made from a wine cork and duct tape which was hammered into the drain hole along with a load of silicone. I suppose any leaks it had were due to that fix.
Rust can also stain a hull but it's not likely it got all over the entire hull.

The funny thing is someone actually primed it with redish paint, then painted it that yellowish color. Sometime later, someone began to sand the hull...... thus the mix of yellow and red

So how are you making out zeronite ? In the water yet ?? Been noticing that your aft light is on the left side of the boat ; and there was a handle / cleat in front of your bow light ...so that dose puther in the '58 - '59 range . have you decided on a model yet ? Keep it going ! peter

Re: 68, 69 or 70...

I was noseing around in the "library" again - from the brochures it seems that '59 was the first year of the all fiberglass 15' er and the aft light moves to the other side in '60....so I'd guess you have a early production '59 -with the older (celeron type ) hardware in their old positions ...Just my theroy , I've never called myself an expert on anything ! lol peter

Re: 68, 69 or 70...

I don't see where there was a 1959 model with a glass upper? The hull was already one piece glass but I thought the model line up was all wood topped and wood interiors?

I did look at a 1960 Seaway about a year ago, it was in pretty much all original shape as far as I could tell. It had twin 1960 Evinrude v4s, the plexi windshield, and no lighting or instrumentation or switches at all. Just the two motors and two ignition switches mounted on a metal plate below the dash, as if they didn't want to cut any holes in the dash. There were two relay boxes mounted at the stern under the splashwell, one huge old battery, still in it's metal box, and it had rope and pulley steering.

I actually went back a few times to look at it, but never could agree on a price. I was actually pretty surprised at it not having lights, or any electrical system other than the key switches. The throttle assembly was two Shipmaster type twin stick controls mounted side by side to the right gunwale.
It matched the 1960 catalog pics perfectly other than the lack of lights. There were no holes drilled or filled where lights could have been. It had an anchor or mooring bit just ahead of the windshield, and four tear drop shaped cleats, and two rope guides along both sides of the bow on top.
The boat also had an all metal rub rail. The title said 1960, but it had a state assigned HIN.
