I'm new to the forum and want to thank everyone for their content, comments and witty exchanges! I just picked up my second Starcraft and am having difficulty identifying the year of manufacture. I'm told it is a '68 Holiday V, but it lacks the center ladder and split windshield. The serial number starts with 67; does that reflect the model year? No title, coming from a no-title state and the serial number plate was handed to me along with the bill of sale! My doubt about the year/model is attributed to the lack of a center ladder/split windshield configuration, along with the serial number.
Thumnailed below are some shots I took this morning.
This is my first IO and second boat (canoes, logs and livestock water tanks don't count). My first real boat was a SC '72 14' runabout that I gave up for getting married
. . . but now she wants me to take the boys fishing. Sometimes you've just got to wait a little while for everything to balance out.
This boat is in great shape for her age. Shade tree paintbrush paint job in a pale green, appears to be over a deep gold. Some dents and dings, but nothing she didn't handle with grace and style. The interior is amazing! Original decking, partial vinyl on deck and side panels. Dash panel, gauges and steering wheel assy are in incredible condition for their age. The dash and under-bow wood is all in excellent condition. 18 gal fuel tank tucked under the bow. She's spent her entire life in Northern Idaho and NE Washington.
Motor sounded fine, but it is either stuck in reverse or dies when shifting. I'll know more once I slow down to dig into it over the next few days. I appreciate and invite your tips, thoughts and observations.
Once the restoration is underway, I'll also document that. Anyone with a spare split windshield, let me know! Also looking to find a fuel tank to be installed under the deck, closer to the center. I haven't searched for similar efforts and will, but appreciate comments from anyone with knowledge of that undertaking. For now, clean her up and make sure all systems are a go, then get her in the water to see how my fishing crew likes her!
Until later, Frosty
