Hey Guys

Hopefully I will not need a pull cord. But the motor has a pull cord tucked away neatly. The problem I that I don't see where to wind the thing. Any ideas?

While we are here... In some pics I've seen of this motor, there seems to be a plate on top of the gen/alt. This motor does not have one. When first trying to get the motor to start are a long time of sitting, the belt came off. So far, the one time was the only time. Did someone perhaps monkey with this motor and not reinstall that plate or keeper??

thank you
Billy Bob

what's up bill, this has nothing to do with your question,it is in regards to another questions u answered about the gas shooting out of the no.6 spark plug hole and fuel injection. believe it or not on a fuel injected ford engine if the little vacume controlled fuel regulator's diaphram is busted it will poor raw gas in the cylinder closest to it via the injector to the extent that it will lock up the engine.it actualy fills the cylinder so full of gas it can't compress it.

Hey, T-bird.

Is there some reason you couldn't reply on the post you are replying to?

Howdy, Billy Bob.

Someone could have stripped your engine for a part.

If you want to work on it, get a manual. It will answer most of your questions, we will be glad to answer the rest.

Good luck. :)

Hi JB

Thank you for your reply. The prob is I do have a manual that doesn't seem to cover the pull rope issue, just that it has the spare.

The manual showed some piece (I called it a plate on the gen/alt) and I wondered if maybe some did not have it. Alot of times the manuals just say 'typical' That is why I had asked. Maybe I should try to acquire this 'plate' I would not want the belt coming off and my battery not being recharged.

thanks again
Billy Bob

T-bird

Wow that was almost a flame but will disregard that portion. I did admit that I really did not know much about motors. When I suggested a valve not opening, I surely did not expect that to be the only possible problem, just the only one I had. (limited knowledge you see)

Billy Bob

T-bird

Though it does not relate to me, I do want to learn. In a conventional auto type motor, I thought the only way for anything to get into the cylinder combustion chamber was through the (2) valves, injector and of course, the spark plug hole. Now you mention, this diaphram. How does the raw fuel get into the combustion chamber? That is to say, what route does it take from that diaphram to the combustion chamber?

thanks
Billy Bob
