Can anyone point me in a direction to find a fuel pump rebuild kit for this engine. The diaphram is distorted, maybe the ethanol? Every place I lock I can only find the whole pump, $80 plus bucks. I'm not going to put that much into a 40+ year old engine.

Thanks in advance for any help. Charlie

An aftermarket Sierra 18-7350 works just fine on that motor. 45 bucks.

What leads you to believe that you have a fuel pump problem?

Squeeze the primer bulb, starts and runs like a top for 20-30 seconds then dies. Two different tanks and fuel lines, fresh gas. Took the pump apart and the diaphram is distorted badly as I said in my original post. I would prefer a rebuild kit with just the gaskets and diaphram. I've been wrenching engines of all kinds for 40 years although I'm just a lowly electrical engineer.

The tip is appreciated.

if the motor has good compression and is decent condition for its age, its worth a new fuel pump!! go buy a used newer motor for a few hundred or more $$$. and you may find yourself needing a fuel pump, cdi box etc. the oldies are still worth putting a few bucks into. the $45 part tx mentioned is all you need.

Well I ended up buying the new Sierra pump. Took it up to the lake and it won't start. I've got pressure to the pump but it doesn't seem to be flowing through the pump when priming. Anybody have this problem or any ideas?

Fuel Pump Test

(23) You SHOULD be able to blow thru the pump by blowing into inlet (A). You should NOT be able to blow thru the pump by blowing into outlet (C).

If the pump does not pass this test, disassemble pump and check the parts that must be in an exact position or must be in an exact relationship to other parts.

After pump is installed, squeeze primer bulb until firm. Check pump and connections for leaks. Correct any leaks before operating motor.

Make sure the pump is not mounted upside down. It should be marked "top" on the body.
