68 johnson outboard jumps out of forward gear

help!!!!!!!!!!!! The motor just started jumpin out of gear with no warning. has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have a breakdown of this lower unit? Thanks Bryan

Its a 20 hp

i'm not absolute ,but i have a 69,40 hp johnson ,and it has done that on an occasion as well ,most of the time it's due to some cavitation ,i slow down and it's fine

try a wing on the cavitation plate

Check to see if you have enough of gear oil in lower unit and that there is no water mixing with it
