68 lark selectric shift problems

just fired up motor and the prop was spinning in forward turned key off and the motor did shut off but it ran smoother and the prop stopped what the heck was that... did some looking around found out the wires in the very bottom was chewed up took the bottom apart and the magnets i think that's what they are or the coils look bad where or how can i fix this....

oops what i meant to say when i turned off the key the motor did not shut off just ran smoother and the prop stop spinning???

Well for one thing, I'd say somebody has put a car ignition switch in there. The magneto ignition requires a different kind of switch. Keep it up with the car switch and the magneto coil will explode.

Are you saying the coils in the lower unit are bad? Only fix for them is replacement. Get out your wallet, if that's the case.
