I needed to replace my reverse gear due to the fact the bushing wore out. The gear I got is too tight on the prop shaft. I mic'd it out, the prop shaft appears to be a nice 1", the bushing mic's at 0.0025 smaller. Can I just run a cleaner ream through the bushing without destroying it? BTW these appear to be oil-lite bushings like what is used on a car cam or rod bearing.

Are you sure you have the correct gear, never had to or heard of having to ream a gear bushing.

Is the prop shaft worn where the bushing rides ??

What I discovered is that the way the bushing is made, there is a tiny ridge where the two halves are joined. It appears to be about 1/16" wide and several thousandths tall, which would be all of my clearance.

I do believe that bushing starts out as one piece and the gruve and holes are put in it for lubrication. Ream it out and try it.
