Read somewhere once about some intermediate or automatic choke on the left side of the engine with a yellow and a purple wire. Does this exist or does someone have there wires crossed. Post said to cut and tie-off 1 of the wires, that this syustem was a flop and only created problems.

Well it exists, and in a few motors it caused problems. If you want to, you can modify it, but if you aren't having problems, I wouldn't consider it a high priority.

What you do is connect BOTH, the purple/yellow and purple/white wires coming from the solenoid to the purple/white coming from the instrument panel. The purple/yellow coming from the thermal switch is no longer used.

After the change, it will choke only when you operate the choke switch. Gone will be the warm-up period's partial choke. That means you may have to momentarilly "bump" the choke switch a few to keep it running till it warms up.

None of it will work if you don't have the manual choke in the center, or "automatic" position.
