Guys,
I have came across a a 69 85hp ESL model johnson with tilt. The engine does turn but has no spark. After following the forums it looks like it is a power pack issue. I have a 72 60HP ESL model with no issues but it does not have tilt. I was wondering if I pick up the 69 could I take the power pack from mine. Or the tilt from the 69. After I chose one moter I am planning on selling the other so which would be better to keep? I have a 63" 19 ft aluminum starcraft I am using for fishing.

The parts in question are not interchangeable.

Also, if your motor is a 1972 model, it should be a 65hp motor. On the other hand, if it is, indeed, a 60hp motor, it would be a 1970 or 1971 model. They may seem to be a minor point, but there is actually quite a bit of difference in the ignition/charge systems in the 60hp v. the 65hp.

guys, you are right it is a 60hp 71. I just took alook at plate to confirm. Do you think the 85hp tilt will fit on the 60hp. Here is the issue I can buy the 85 hp for 300 but it does not have the spark but it has tilt. My 60hp is in good condition but I can not find a tilt and a cmc is 500. I think I can sell my 60 HP easily for 400. So depending on how much it would cost to fix the 85 HP I can get a bigger motor and tilt for not that much more money. What do you guys think?

If that is a three cylinder then the amplifier should fit as I bought a amp off ebay that was for a 3 cyl and it worked fine on my 1972-85 hp rude
