69 merc650 ignition

hi guys my engine is a 69 mercury merc650 65hp i have a remote control without an ignition just a saftey cut off switch. before i order this ignition i would like to know if it is the correct one. if not can someone please give me a part number. here is the part number of the ignition i think is correct but not sure also my engine has a thunderbolt ignition

Sierra part

IGNITION SWITCH

Push to Choke ? 3 Position ? 6 Terminal

Replaces: 87-88107, A5

Your engine came with a control box part # 45854A15 that box used a switch # 54211 which was changed to 54211T and is a current number so not knowing which box you have today is difficult to say which switch will work.

ok thanks, apperently the one i have is for a pull start engine, what i was going to do wass install the ignition and choke button on the dash not on the control i have a wiring diagram i have no clue what the tan wire goes to on the external wire harness there is no tan wire coming from the engin here is a pic of the wire diagram i am confused about tan wire "E" i know it connects to the ignition but where does it connect at the engine side of the harness? heres the link to the wiring diagram the picture is bigger here thanks http://maxrules.com/oldmercs/Wiring/1966ona/30.gif

Your harness is for a later engine that has a warning horn so the tan wire would be taped off

ok but the tan wire actually goes to the ignition switch and connects to "D" in the off position thats what got me confused???????????
