hi my name is nick and i was searching the web for a good forum on outboards and this won looking like a good one. i have a 1969 mercury 35hp long shaft outboard that it tiller steer. it is a great motor that runs great but it is to slow. i was wondering if any one knew if it is possible to bore it out and put like 45hp piston and crab or like a 50hp pistons and crab on it to make it faster. i had the prop re-pitched from a 10 pitch to a 12 pitch and i gain some sleep on my 14 foot flat bottom but i sold that a bought a 16 foot modified v and i lost all the speed i gained for the re-pitching and i really don't what to send a air and a leg on a new motor. any advice would be a ton of help thanks nick

Re: 69 mercury outboat help

i would sell the one you have and buy a bigger motor. I just pick up a 1971 merc 65 hp for 400 bucks and it came with 350 dollars worth of receipts with it just had the work done and wanted the money now, so deals are out there:)
