Re: 6hp 4 stroke vibration

Thanks for the moeller pad tip....on the fuel hose for the thrust rod...should be cut short enough to fit inside the hooks on the reverse lock arm.
Other possible candidates for the transom rubber pad:
piece of auto tire
rubber sole of shoe/sneaker
replacement rubber heel pads for shoes
maybe exercise pads
etc.

Get some 1.2 mm pcv fabric left overs, trim/shape them nicely and glue them on outter, inner engine's plates, could also glue same fabric on top transom for stern brackets to rest against fabric. Check stern bracket adjustment, if loose engine will vibrate, try to secure both clamp eyes horizontally looking at each other, tie them with a small rope, tie wrap, lock, whatever, when they are loose sometimes vibrates along with engine.

Adjust steering friction screw to minimum, at neutral, tiller will move freely, but when engine is pushing will be locked against transom making steering heavier. If you sum both loads will end compressing both rubber bushings faster under constant tillering.

Happy Boating

A possible source for vib pads is from Grainger, part #4C793...(2) 4x4x3/8" pads...$11.00 approx.
Forgot to mention that when you put the piece of fuel hose on the trust rod to make sure the hooks on the reverse lock arm can still be engaged.

More on the fuel hose on the thrust rod......it's 2 pieces about 1/2" long on the outside of the hooks on the reverse arm lock..again ensure the reverse hook can engage afterwards.....
