If i put gas directly in the carb it starts easy but when i hook up a tank and hose (which works fine) the motor wont start. I get fuel though all hoses even at the connection to the carb yet it still wont start? Please i need help because i'm not that great when it comes to this stuff and havent the money for a mechanic. Thanks you so much!

Have you checked to see if there is in fact gas in the carb bowl? If your needle is stuck closed; maybe the bowl is dry?

If you pull your engine over several times with the choke closed you should see liquid gasoline in the throat of the carb; perhaps even dripping out.

If not; you will need to remove the bowl and clean the needle and seat area of the carb. Maybe it was put away with bad gas in there that has gummed things up?

Thanks for the idea!!!! But what if there is gas at the neck of the carb after pulling a bunch of times and the bowl is filling up? Then what? Thanks!

you have to think positive, and he said throat not neck. If you pulling gas up it should start.

The fact that it runs when you squirt in gas tells us that it's a fuel issue. It tells us that you have spark and compression.

If there is not gas getting through to the carb throat, you are going to be dissassembling the carburetor to find out why your inlet valve is stuck closed or why fuel is not getting through your jets (maybe they are completely clogged).

If there is gas getting to the carb bowl and also through the jets then you are going to have to go back and figure out where your above analysis went wrong. You said that fuel is pumping to the carb and you said that fuel in the carb throat is making your motor work for a period of time, then if it is getting to your bowl and cleanly through the jets, something about all this cannot be right.

Check the carb and we can go from there.

I took carb apart and cleaned it. Put back on and it started then wantrd to stall out. I needed to open and close the choke to keep it running. It is starting but not sure why it wants to stall out.

OK; you're making progress. Take a look at the picture. You want to thoroughly clean the high speed orifice (part#27 in the pic). Clean it by running a single strand of wire through it...preceeded and followed by spray carb cleaner. Do the same with the high speed nozzle (#12) . Keep in mind that you don't want to enlarge these orifices. Just use small diameter wire to help ferret out debris. You really should remove the welch plug on the top and clean the idle circuit under there; but to do so you would need a replacement welch plug. You can wait on that if you need to; they don't always need service in that area. You can decide after you have a running engine and can ascertain idle quality.
