The EVINRUDE parts website notes spark plug: Champion J6J, which is no longer available and has been replaced by J6C.
The CHAMPION website lists J8C as the recommended plug.

Well, the carb kit helped a little, but not much.

My next step is to check the points. I have the main nut of and a pully puller connected. My question is, how much force should it take to get the flywheel loose? Mine is REALLY on there and I don't want to break anything. Is there something besides that top nut holding it on?

Yes, the locking flywheel / crankshaft tapers.----The flywheel is stretched over the crank taper.----It tales a bump wirg a hammer on the center puller bolt.-----You are using a puller and 3 bolts I hope.

I got it.

I put some pressure on it with the puller (yes, it has the 3 bolts) and a light tap with a rubber mallet on the outside edge made it pop loose.

I checked the timing and it seems that the top cylinder may have been off a bit. I'll try it and see what happens.
