6hp lower unit, cannot remove shaft?

i am disassembling this lower unit its a 93, and everything is out except the shaft, upper pinion gear and back gear, parts ive circled. what releases it?

Shift to reverse.-----Then try turning the propshaft as you pull on it.------Make sure pinion and forward gear do not turn.

Should just slide out. Perhaps shaft is corroded to pinion?

i cannot shift to anything all the shifting stuff is locked up and now fallen apart inside

Oh well, ---took one of these with the drive balls apart some time ago.----I had no trouble !!!

Shaft should pull out. If damage has occurred, the shaft may not pull out easily. Put the shaft in a bench vice and GENTLY tap the housing away from it. Should do the trick. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the housing or buggering the shaft.
