You already bought the other stuff. For the money you are contemplating spending you can get the (plug and play) correct module here...http://www.mercruiserparts.com/15248...-mcm-s-b-09-14

"Part is no longer available"

This is why I'm debating just making the full change. The Amplifier is no longer available from Merc, and there are only a few listed on ebay. The one that is new is more than an entire new ignition system and the others are close to that price and used.

EST has my vote if changing

Thanks...I'm leaning that way. Ive only got about $80 bucks into the cap, rotor, sensor, and coil. A new amplifier will run another $365-$429 on ebay right now...and if that fails someday where am I then with them being almost obsolete now???

Michigan Motorz is local to me.....for $419 I can pickup the whole EST system and have it in the boat tonight.

Oh, and ALLDODGE.....this setup is also on a '95 Captiva 232.......

Cool, I'm still all original (owned since new) good handling boat

Yeah, I keep looking at upgrading to newer but I cant find any other boats with the Big Block and this seating configuration in the 24-25ft range. Perfect family boat. We will probably just end up in another Captiva someday.

******SOLVED*******

Thanks everyone for the help. I stopped into Michigan Motorz yesterday. Those guys are GREAT. They took the time to talk to me and even brought a tech out to listen and help me troubleshoot. I went with the Delco Voyager system they have and he cut me an awesome deal on it and agreed to refund me 100% on the Thunderbolt parts I had already purchased. The Thunderbolt IV ignition amplifiers are basically obsolete.

It took me less than an hour to remove the Thunderbolt IV and Install the Delco system (Including all new spark plugs). Once I got the system installed I turned the key......and BAM......the engine fired and settled into an idle immediately. No pumping the throttle, no hard start. I couldnt be happier.

SO........the Delco system is awesome and really cuts down on the wiring etc....and Michigan Motorz....if you need parts, check those guys out, they earned my business for life yesterday by taking extra time they didnt have to. You dont get customer service like that much anymore.
