I have a 89 Sea Ray with a 92 gen v 454 10114182. I have just had the motor rebuilt and the are some wires that I am unsure where they go. The are a purple and red coming from the distributor that I believe go to the coil but which one is positive post and which one goes on the negative post? There is another set of red and a purple wire coming from the main harness. I'm not sure if the go to the coil or the mercathode? And the last wire is a orange wire coming from the Hall effect switch in the distributor that I am unsure of?

none of those colors match the wiring charts, using photobucket post some pics of what you have.

Sorry I am colorblind I had my wife look at them. There is a grey wire and a purple wire coming from the distributor. There is a grey wire and a purple wire coming from the main harness. And the orange wire is spliced to the Hall effect sensor in the distributor. Here is a link to some pics that I took. http://s105.photobucket.com/user/klawton55/profile/

I believe that I figured it out but I have another issue. The purple wire going to the coil +, doesn't have power. Is there a fuse that I could have blown? When the ignition key is turned on all the other gauges work and start cranks I just have spark,

you should have a purple and grey wire coming from the engine harness and a purple and grey wire coming from the ign module .purple goes to coil +
and grey goes to coil -. The dist has a white/green and a red/green that come from the ign module. The orange wire spliced in should be going to the shift interrupter switch mounted on the stbd riser with the shift cable.
If you have spark, you have power .

Thanks. I did find that diagram in my Internet search and that is how I got everything connected. Just a question though the grey wire from the tach gets connected where. Also I do not have spark and I found out that I do not have power on the purple wire ignition +. Could that be a fuse inline with the ignition switch or someplace else?

srart at the key switch, that might have a fuse under the dash, the grey wire in the harness goes to the tach

Thanks. I found a wire that was not hooked up. I have a few other questions but I think I should start a new thread since they are not related. Thanks again for the info.
