I'm trying to get this 7.5 Gamefisher going and need more info. I would like to have another source for parts other than Sears...so, who made this thing? I have no way of knowing what year it is but the model is 217.586753 .... any info whatsoever about who made it or where I can get parts would be great to know. I think that all I need is an impeller but I kinda like this motor and am considering keeping it for my small fishing boat. This is one of those black motors with forward and neutral (no reverse)...any help is appreciated.

That's one of the air-cooled models. I think the engine is a Clinton, but it could also be a Tecumseh. Sears still sells parts for this outboard, and that's amazing for one of these private label outboard.

Can you get parts elsewhere? Possibly, but since they're available at Sears (www3.sears.com), why bother?

If you had the Montgomery Wards version, no parts at all are available, except by sheer force of will.

No reason you should keep it. Just buy the needed parts from Sears.

I'm pretty well convinced that it is made by ESKA but would like to know what year it is just for information. The carbureator apparently is made by Lauson as stamped on the bowl.

Yep, I'd clean the carbureator. If no fuel is getting into the carburator either your float valve is stuck or the fuel pump is not working. I assume you have a fuel tank with a primer bulb on it. In that case, I'd say the float valve is stuck. I had a similar problem with mine. I very carefully took the carburator apart, cleaned it with some cheap carb cleaner like you find in autozone or walmart then reassembled it and it runs really good. I also had to replace the impeller which I could only find at sears for the gamefisher made by eska.
