. I just took possession of this engine. I replaced the impeller today and run the engine for a few minutes. There was no water spitting out. The throttle was only running in the idle position and start position.

  1. Is this normal? I have no manual for this motor.

I also noticed when the vanes were orientated in the direction of travel, because of the off centre position the vanes would flex rearwards when they where at the point of greatest diameter from the shaft.

  1. Is this normal?

The engine has to warm up before water comes out of the pee hole, the other worry is not a worry

It turned out I had not inserted the water tube into the block correctly. I nearly seized the motor and screwed the $51 AUD impeller (can you believe the cost?) I got another impeller, tipped the motor upside down, inserted the water tube into the block then replaced the lower leg.....hey prestow! instant water. Great!

I had a 70's version of that engine and didn't think it even had a stat. I seem to recall water within a few seconds.
