7.5 hp sailmaster thermostat housing gasket

Replacing the gasket due to water leak.
Does it go on dry? Or should be using sealer on both sides of the gasket? What kind of sealer?

If you put sealer on it it (both sides) wont leak but it might make it more difficult to get the cover off next time. The cover is only plastic, I think, .. you don't want to break it getting it off.

Personally I'd lightly coat the gasket with some grease.
