7.5 ted williams question

ok guys just like a bad penny i have returned LOL

anyway i have acuired my dads old 7.5 and i cleaned the points and she fired right up i had this motor running about 10 years ago and that was the last time it was used but nothing but the points needed work..

OK the mod# is 57460121 and ser# is 65600711
and its made by simpsons sears LTD canada

can sombody point me in the direction to find the Year??

I've got a 7.5 made by McCullogh that's a 68. So far I've only run it in a bucket, and it seems a bit rough. It won't really run at slow speed, and it's hard to start. My plan is to take it out Sunday and just run it for a while. Since this is my first boat motor, I don't know much about them and how they run. Should I try to run it at a high speed or see how slow I can keep it running?
