My 7 way blade plug adaptor for my boat trailer is wearing out. The trailer is wired to a 6 way round and then fits into the 7 way blade which goes in the truck. I found one at an auto parts store that LOOKS exactly like what I have, but no lights at all!

Any suggestions?

I was hoping for a simple fix to use the 7 way to six way adaptor plug without having to mess with the wiring. The only explanations I can come up with are that I have the wrong 7 way blade plug (even though it fits everything perfectly) meaning that it is hardwired wrong for my situation OR that I need to make some type of adjustment to the 7 way blade plug to get everything working.

Up until several years ago there was no standard for trailer wiring.

The camper and horse trailer where both wired differntly and neither matched the truck. Had to swap wires in the connector to get them to work. Got tired of dealing with the stupid 5 pin/7 pin adapter on the boat trailer and just changed that out to a 7 pin connector as well.

Sounds like the best advice is to hardwire a new 7 way. I think I'll take that one during a lull period between fishing trips. Thanks guys.
