Got my '70 up and running, but it has no power past part throttle, and won't get anywhere near proper WOT RPM. Squeezing the primer bulb while running makes no difference. The motor seems to make good RPM in REV, but not in FWD.So far I've done the following....

-Cleaned all 3 carbs, checked float levels. All are parallel to the carb body when inverted.

-Checked linkages and sync according to the Clymer manual.

-Replaced fuel hoses, many were hard and brittle, assumed they are sucking air.

-Replaced the fuel pump.

-Fuel tank and hose work fine on another boat, but it's a 25 Johnson. It gets 5000 rpm @ WOT.

-Checked spark on one cyl. 1/2" blue pretty spark.

- Checked point gap and condition. Points are pretty and clean, gap is .010 as per sticker under flywheel.

- Timing advance goes up to the rubber stop in both FWD and REV.

Performance was OK at this point, but not REAL good. I went back and checked the clamps on my new fuel lines and snugged them up a bit. It also looked as if the line from the pump to the carb inlet was pinched by the silencer, so I changed the routing to remove the restriction. Now the motor is much worse?????

I don't see any difference in the powerhead linkage action between FWD and REV, and it seems like it should act the same in either. Is this true?

Trying a compression check next but I'm not sure what good readings are. I'll compare what ya'll say to what I see.

Any other suggestions?

Get's more interesting...I went to check the spark to all 3. Pulling #1 and #3 wires doesn't make a big difference in how it runs. Pulling #2 kills the motor. Hmmmmm??
