I have recently bought myself a 1985 Evinrude 60HP (compression 150 and 152) and am planning to do some mods on it over the winter. I have read some articles on here Scream and fly about putting 70hp carbs on their Evinrudes but I would like to know for 100% that it would work before I spend money on it. If it would work, what is the age range of carbs that would work on it. Again, my motor is a 1985 2 cyl. Any comments are appreciated

That only applies to the 3 cylinder models. Your motor as a 2 cylinder, on that block at 60 hp is making all its going to make. And considering the less than robust lower unit on that motor 60 hp is quite enough. You want more power find a different motor.

You already have the bigger carbs because it is a 60 hp. Any of the other mods are for racing purposes.

If that was my motor I'd just leave it the way it is and run it. Back in the day I've seen too many of them blow up. Mainly crack the blocks.

Some of the people on Scream and Fly recommend mods that are great on racing motors on very light hulls, but make no sense on motors used for general recreation boating.
Rarely does changing a carb by itself result in performance gains, usually a cranky, ill tempered, hard to start and rough running engine is the result.

You should note in the referenced document that those big carbs are used in conjunction with several other mods, like porting and compression. By themselves you just burn more fuel.
