If his plug was out he probably would've noticed after 5-10 gallons, he must've filled the bilge plus some. Hard to believe he didn't see this sooner, probably buying donuts inside.:)

Can you just imagine the fireball if he had went back out and tried to start his motor?
Might have blown up himself, family, boat, motor, fuel dock!

Never mind. I thought he was at a marina. I now see he is on land at a gas station.

and......? Still potential for big boom.

Just less 'floating' debris.

Some people should'nt be allowed to breed, much less own a boat.

Don't gas tanks have caps and rod holders don't? How do you screw that up?

Re: 70 Gallons of Gasoline

it must happen a lot; you hear the stories and warnings all the time. I know I came close once, one a boat I've had for 20 years, being in a hurry, cold, etc.--I didn't pump any or even put the nozzle in, but I was headed that way, so I can understand how someone could "space out."
"There, but for the grace of God, go I."

Re: 70 Gallons of Gasoline

I live in NJ, and if you tow your boat and stop at a gas station you have to let the attendant fill your boat. Countless times I've had to stop them from doing just this even after the fact I take the cap off for them and point and say "HERE!!!" when telling them where to put it. This of course is after they try to pump regular gas in my F250 when I clearly say fill it with DIESEL fuel. The problem is sadly the guys that work there rarely speak english and rarely give a crap.
