70 hp evindude lower unit will any other evinrude lower unit fit ?

i bought a 70 hp evinrude model number 70773s 1977 when i got it home i noticed the lower oil fill screw was missing i know the motor was running with no oil in the foot an proubly rusted the insides tight but now the lower unit has sat two years an will not budge i droped it out an the top end spins freely . should i take the lower unit apart with a manual or buy another lower unit? dose it have to be off a 70 hp? or are there sum interchangable lower units? thanks for all your help myke.

If it were me, I would have to pull it apart and check it out.
Look at the top of the page in the "Top Secret File" sticky, there is a interchange chart there, maybe it will help you out. There is also a list of salvage yards there, just in case you need one.
