Re: 70 hp Force 1991

Welcome Koi.

Cold engine Starting procedure:

Lower engine into water.
Squeeze the bulb on the fuel line till its firm.
Insert key and turn to on position.
Activate "throttle only" button on the controls, advance throttle handle.
Push key in and hold. (this activates the choke)
Rotate key while still pushed in until motor starts.
When motor starts, release key and immediately pull the throttle handle back to idle position.

Any problems or questions? Just ask.

Prop is selected based on size and performance of current prop.
Does the boat have a tach?
If so, what are the rpm readings at wide open throttle? (wot)
What numbers appear on the current prop? You may have to remove the prop to see the numbers on the end.

My guess, without more information, would be 10.5 diameter X 13 pitch.

I switched my prop from the OEM to Vortex. One hub that runs about $35.00 @ Overton's and the props are $65.00

Re: 70 hp Force 1991

Just a bit more info.
I have a 1995 70hp Force on an aluminum fishing boat. Hull weighs 700#.

Fully loaded with motor batteries, fuel, gear, and 2 guys, 1400#.

I run a 10.5x14p and that puts me at the top end of the rpm range with an excellent holeshot.
If its just me with a light load, I can run a 10.25x15pitch prop.

Re: 70 hp Force 1991

mine is also somewhat hard to start when its cold I dont know if yours just turns over or if it seems like the starter dosnt completly engage when cold starting but I have heard these are both common in force. I also learned something about choking mine. I dont have the mannual for mine nor dose it say anywhere on the dash or by the key but push in on the key to choke it while turning it over as soon as it fires you should only need to turn the key.

Not trying ti hijack your thread but can anyone with a 90's 70 hp force that could snap a pic of where the throttle and shift cables are connected to motor actualy I'm missing the part that holds to cable from moving before the actual connection. Thanks. 5string
