Is it true you have to run at high idle for 3 hrs to break in new pistons/sleeves etc. for a 95 70hp Force?

I just sleeved and bored mine over 20.

I put in Wiseco pistons and rings. I don't think it's a tight fit either. How would you break that combo in?

Also, I'm putting a sparksensing tach on the engine, not done it yet, but is it easy?

Instructions should have came with pistons. If dealer rebuild, should have gave you written instructions on breakin. Every machineshop in this area adds more clearence when using Wiseco
pistons to prevent sticking doing breakin.

A safe bet for any 2 cycle outboard is:
double mix the oil [to 25:1] for 10-12 gallons of fuel
While on the double mix, avoid prolonged idle,it will load up with unburned oil an foul plugs...avoid max power [wide open throttle]..short burst to get on plane and such is ok...
after you get through the double mix, run it like you stole it....LOL....
