70 HP FORCE NO SPARK?

70 HP FORCE NO SPARK?

I have no spark to my plugs. The black box is new. Its seems to have power to the box but nothing out of it. Any toughts?<br />can this be in the key?<br />This is a Merc Force 1994, 70EL<br />ser # OEO45805<br />Thanks

Is your boat equipped with a lanyard switch? The switch is designed to kill the motor if the driver goes overboard.

The kill lanyard is in place. Is this a normally open or closed cercit?<br /><br />Thanks for your help

My understanding is that the lanyard will ground out the ignition to shut motor off. If that is the case it should be normally open for the motor to work.
