I have a 1989 70 HP motor that seems to be losing its prime. The weird part of it all is that it doesn't do it all the time. This has been ongoing now for about 3 years. I have the boat out this year about 10 times without a glitch until this past Saturday when I had the same issue, to the point where i had to have a buddy pump the ball each time it started losing power. This only happens at high speeds. I've done the fuel pump, changed the fuel lines and female fitting, replace the ball, checked the line in the tank, replace hose clamps.
This being said, There's a good chance that if I take the boat out , that everything would be fine again. But seen as I like to fish the great lakes, I don't like to risk the chance of dealing with this issue again.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
