Re: 70 hp going slower than a 25

Alright,

I removed the yellow wires to the rectifier, and started it up, still no spark on cylinder 2 (the others were still fine). So from my understanding of the link (thanks for that), it cant be the rectifier.

The only question I have is how do I check the timer base? I looked at that link, and I have my service manual but am still confused on how to check this.

The quicker you guys help me, the quicker Ill leave you alone!

First things first, got a DVA??? Second, have you pulled the flywheel to visually inspect everything?

Look for evidence of overheated components, stator will look like it's leaking black if it's failing. Check the flywheel magnet in the center to see if it's loose, check the trigger sensors to see if one is loose. If all looks good visually it's meter testing time, you may need to purchase a DVA as well.

After taking apart and checking everything as described best on this site, I think its the power pack, everything else seems fine. Ordered parts today, should get the new pack saturday. Ill let you know if that fixes the old 'rude. Thanks for all the help.

UPDATE!

I changed power packs today and took her out... She ran GREAT! It was like having a new motor, no way my buddy could catch me now! Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it. To anyone else having the same problems, TRY THIS.

Now on to rebuilding the carbs...

Thanks for letting us know you got her fixed. I hate it when some one has a problem comes in here ask for help and never tells us what the fix was.
