70 johnson trim

we have a 70hp johnson outboard...it will trim up but not down..took off the pump..now when you hit the up button it trims down...Could something be backwards..Also why does it not trim down?

Welcome to the forum!<br /><br />Your toggle switch may have gone bad. You cant fixem have to buy a new one.<br /><br />Your pump motor sounds to be ok.<br /><br />The blue and white wire is for up and the green and white wire is for down. the black is for ground.<br /><br />You can use a jumper wire from the ground and touch the two other wires one at a time and see if it goes up and down. if it does replace the switch.<br /><br />Good luck!

thank you...we got it going up and down just tapped on the relay box...
