I have come to the point that my flooding issue must have something to do with some dirty carbs. I drained them and the bottom had some very oily looking gas and a little grit come out.

Question: Should I just go ahead now and get three repair kits on the way or open them and see there condition first? seems that I will need the gaskets in any case

My answer is, absolutely! Buy three carb kits and totally disassembly your carbs (one at a time I may add) and between some very good carb spray cleaner and some compressed air, make certain every little hole and slot in the carb is perfectly clear of all crud. Don't over look any portion of the carb. That means remove everything including the low speed jet AND high speed jet sections. Then with the instructions from either the factory manual or the carb kits, reassembly them and install them back on the engine again. You will need to readjust them for your engine and that info would be in the factory manual as well... :thumb:

I went ahead and removed two of them. Both are clean as a whistle. Perhaps I should have tested the choke solenoid first?

You dont always need kits folks. A lot of times you can clean a carb and put it back together without a kit if you are doing it for yourself. Model # would be nice. You said it looked oily. Sometimes VRO's fail and mix way to much oil.
