70hp evinrude 1984 temp sender

i install a 70hp on my boat which has a temp gauge. i have a sender unit from the original motor but i can not see any where that a sendor can be installed on the 70 other than using thermal paste and sticking to the outside of the cylinder head. any ideas ?

This is the type bracket and sensor you need. It attaches to one of the head bolts. Set a clearance between the sensor and the cylinder head of .010 to eliminate possible false readings.
