Expect the trim tab to have different effects as its contact with the water changes as the angle (trim) changes. If you don't want prop torque feedback, install a "no feedback" steering system...solves that problem but is a little harder to steer...but no biggie for me, I'll take the NFB hands down and have it on my boat. They are readily available.
If you dial it in "just perfect" (for your tastes) it will torque slightly all the way in for the hole shot, and be neutral at your normal cruising trim.

In the 80s, I had installed what was called True Trim Steering on my outboard. It used a Trim Tab, that was connected to the Steering Linkage, and by rotating the Trim Tab, the Outboard would be steered. It offered a No Torque Experience at all Speeds and Trim Angles. It was a copy of the system Mercury used on their 1980-1984 300hp/3.4 V6.

This is how it’s positioned as of now. At cruising speed it doesn’t really pull to either side just in the holeshot. It could also be because I had more weight on the port side.

As I recall after having this boat for several years, I dialed in the tab for my upper RPM operation. Had it not been a PIA at other trim settings I would not have gone to the expense and labor of installing NFB steering....2002 115 2 stroke Merc and Crestliner 1750 Fish Hawk.
Oh, while I was at it I changed the steering wheel to tilt which, like my road vehicles, is very convenient for different things I do in the boat.
