yea when i go to full speed on my boat it seems to won't to die out or bog out.it runs great when running at low throttle.i have had it in the water for about 2 months,i have went out an started it up like everyday.my wife an i went out in it the other day an when i came out of the no wake zone to go full speed it just bogged out.im thinking maybe it may be water in the fuel line or maybe some water in the gas tank.anyone who could give me some hints on what it maybe,it sure would be helpfull!!!!!!

Is this the first time you have tried to open it up since you have had it? You may indeed have water in the fuel, but that would probably effect your idle as well. Do you know when the last time the carbs were rebuilt? It may need it.

You may also have a restricted fuel supply or a failing fuel pump, Todd.

Good luck. :)

Todd, if you bump the choke(press the starter key in)what happens? If the revs pick up, then there is a fuel delivery problem. If nothing happens then look to see if the timing is advancing to the rubber stopper(with the engine off, just move the throttle forward). I would pull each spark plug (70hp has 3 plugs) and look very carefully at each. Plugs can tell alot about the internal health of your engine.
Good luck, keep us posted.

i think it maybe the plugs, the plugs that are in it now are not the ones that the manual says it needs

I just came off the lake and my 70, 60hp Evinrude is doing about the same thing. It seemed to do better when it was cold, then it got worse. Every now and then it would have a burst of energy and take off, but most of the time I was at 3/4 speed. It feels like it wants to jump into high gear, but is being pulled back by the load. Carbs have not been reworked in a long time -- should I look that direction, or should I look at the fuel delivery system below the carbs?
Lennyloafer

I would suspect a powerpack if you have a sudden loss of power. You might be dropping a cylinder when the engine warms up you lose conductivity in the pack. When it cools down it returns. When it bogs down check for spark on your cylinders.
