70hp merc model >???

hi we have 70hp merc 3 cylinders .. we cant find the model...#SN 7130105... were having problems getting it started.. motor is lock'd outa water.<br />during the week ... any suggestions...jon

as i said the cover is not orignal.. there must be a way to identify it/modle

Your serial no is not on the cover, it's on the bracket.<br />So it's around 80-82 Canadian. I reckon that's about as close as anyone will get as I don't think even Mercury knows the overseas numbers.

ok 1980-82 is close enough.. now the question...<br />why when the motor is left in the tilt position, for a few day.. wont it start... jon
