This is not a very big boat. I would guess that the hull would weight 700-900lbs. With equipment, fuel, and people I would say around 1300-1500lbs. Could I get away with a 25hp tiller on this boat or would I be way to underpowered. Thanks

All depends on what you want to do. If you are tournament fishing and need to beat the other guys to the fishing hole, then yes it will be underpowered. If you're looking for a way to get out on the water and wet a line, no it won't be underpowered. Very different uses. I would think it would plane off, but probably not too much after that.

This coming from a guy with two boats - one 200 hp, on 3.9 hp. Both have their uses.

So maybe 20-25mph at the most? I do not fish in tournaments so that is not a big deal. I just do not want to putt around to bad. Thanks

What's the boat rated for? The common formula is that 70% is needed for good performance. Perhaps 50% needed for acceptable performance. (also ensuring that this old glasser isn't lugging around a couple hundred pounds of wet floatation foam would be a good idea)

I can not find the rating for this boat. I have not seen any foam in this boat. I just want to get around decent. I live in an area that has smaller reservoirs and lakes. Just want to get around about 20-25mph without overworking the motor. Thanks
