Went to another spot shut it down fished for about 20 minutes started back one pull again do it again started back to boat ramp and I put it in slow it died.a mechanic told me it is an old motor and to add more oil to gas could that be the problem I have 32 oz oil to 6 gallons of gas

The 9.5 motors have always used 50:1 or 16 ounces of oil for 6 US gallons of gasoline.

#32 ounces is more oil than ever required except for break-in after a rebuild.

Try using Champion J6C plugs.
