Hi guys. Running the above motor, and it runs great till you get above 4500 RPM ( 5000 is max
It starts bogging out. I am thinking "fuel starvation", as it is absolutely perfect at lower speeds, have no stalling or idling issues.
I had my daughter sit in back and pump the primer bulb on the fuel line while I cranked up the throttle and it seemed to help, as soon as she stopped pumping, problem came back. I am thinking weak fuel pump, just wondering if any of you would confirm my thinking or have any other suggestions. Checked for blockage, and in fact replaced all the fuel lines and the vacuum feed line to the pump, just because they looked old and cracked..... to no avail. Has fresh plugs, recently serviced carbs (last season) and was properly winterized.

Thanks / Craig

There may be a screen next to the fuel pump which is clogged. Check that first before ordering a new fuel pump. You may also want to check the vents on your fuel tank.

HI Sloopy, thank you, the screen is clean and the vents clear. Not sure what else to check, so I may have to take a chance on that pump.

Any kinks in the line? Leaks in the fuel line? Make sure you check everything before you replace it or you will be PO'ed when you are done. Ask me how I know...

If it has an onboard tank.

Take a look at the check valve, at the tank fitting .

KYHunter
