The boat hasn't been ran in the water yet but yesterday I was able to put the motor in a tub to see how it runs with some back pressure on the exhaust. The first problem I ran into and had this problem right in the benign of the season is the plugs foul out; they are black when I pull them out but once I clean them the motor starts right up. I am familiar with motors and I've had this problem with my ATV which the piston rings were bad but could it be a back ratio of gas to oil I am putting in? (8oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas) The motor also won't idle in the tub, even with the choke on and running for a little, it wouldn't stay at idle. I put muffs on and ran it with a little throttle and then put it back in the tub, once again giving it a little throttle and it finally sat at idle. Then I also replaced the water pump and now at the back of the motor, more water is coming out and I am not sure if it's supposed to be a stream or dribbling out.
