Well, since I just got this boat a week ago, and not knowing all the ins and outs of the motor, I was just leaning on her this morning, gazing at the motor and lost in deep thought about what to do with her next. I did the conversion correctly, as given in previous threads (many thanks to cletis234 for the instructions in his response to bben76 - they were spot on!), and was pondering what step to take next. Looking at the front of the motor, I noticed a lever with an R on one side and an L on the other. About 6 inches away from it was this little square gray button. A choke. Pulled all the way out. Guess the last owner left it out when he tried to start it last time. Pushed it back in. Started right up and ran like a champ. Guess the K.I.S.S. theory still applies. Still not totally smooth. Have to check timing, carb sync, stuff like that. Anyone that can't find the conversion on here can write me at clandestinerendezvous@comcast.net and I will pass along the info with pictures for free (unlike that other idiot on here). Also, would like to thank the 28 people that visited my last thread for all the valuable information you passed along (which was nothing). Some response would have been nice, especially for someone that just joined this forum. I'll still pass along info that I come up with, and will offer suggestions even if they are not spot on. Better to have lived and floated than never to have floated at all. I was in the Coast Guard for over 4 years, and if we had visited a sinking ship 28 times and not offerred assistance, we'd be seeing at least a special court martial. There, I'm done venting. Double thanks again to cletis234 for the info, and bben76 for the extra parts, all the stuff that came with the boat, and the great deal. See, Ben, I told you I'd give her the love you did! Later.

A lot of people might visit a thread just looking for something that might help themselves. Others might visit and not have the answer to the question. I do that a lot myself, figuring it is better to shut up than to give dumb and or incorrect information.

Hey, F.R. Again, I really appreciate your concern. You even replyed through another thread. I'm not bitter or anything, just a little disappointed that there were no replies, even a "howdy, welcome" or "Cheese and rice, man, I just don't know, but post that info when you get it figured out". I'm all for this forum, the only other one I've been on is slot cars. If it helps me, or I can help someone else by passing along info, especially for free with the cost of boat parts and mechanics, I'm all for it. I'm a big time slot collector, and probably one of the top five (not blowing my own horn, just fact) collectors on the planet. I'm always ready to pass along my info to the new guy, as I enjoy anyone that is into what I am as far as info sharing. Just a little surprised that bben76 got so much help with his (now mine) float, that I expected an outpour of response. Maybe I expected too much, but then again, like I said, even a "Go for it, Bro" would have been nice. I am committed to this site, and will pass along all info I discover regarding this conversion. Thanks 5 times over for your response, though. I understand that someone might not want to give bad info, but another idea is still another avenue to channel the thought process.
