i recently purchased a small boat w/ a 71 johnson 60hp motor. i had idle problems when i got it and stalling when put in gear w/ a few carb adjustments and replacing the fuel lines it idles and goes great up untill i give it a bit of throttle. it ran great for one night doing a bit over 30mph at around 4600 rpms and then it never ran the same again. when given full throttle the linkage engages all the way but it doesnt want to rev past 3000rpms. when the boat is not moving if i pushed the throttle linkage all the way down it wil rev over 5000rpms. i saw some sparks way up underneath the flywheel. i am going to remove it this weekend. any tips on what it could be.
