Hey everyone , I tried searching for my answer it couldn't find enough information. Is there anyone who knows forsure if the 71 Merc 800 was the same block and crank as the 76 or 78 800. I want to eliminate the distributor and go with the newer ( I think it's refered to as an ADL ignition?) With a different switch box, 4 coils, a secondary pickup, different stator plate and whatever else is different . Seeing as the dist. Cap is now obsolete would it not be cheaper in the long run. If the swap is possible . Thank you in advance
