Anybody got a service manual for a 50ESL72C that wouldn't mind copying the pages and mailing them to me, I will reimburse the cost of mailing and paper.

Since this is an electric shift, do I need to disconnect the two wires that control the shifting from the power pack in order to allow the lower unit to drop far enough down to service the impeller?

Yes the blue and the green, tie string to the wires or you'll never get them back up.

Ok, thanks! Will the impeller be there in plain sight or do I have to remove some sort of cover or something to get to it?

I will guarantee that you will need more than the water pump section of the manual.

What happens when you need to do a linc n sync? Or adjust timing?

A used manual on ebay is usually not that expensive, and worth every penny while you are servicing your outboard. Much cheaper than bringing it in to the dealer.

The manual is a must especially since your motor is selectric shift. Ill assume you havent had to deal with one yet. They can be difficult for guys experienced in servicing them.

Question about the impeller....I haven't dropped the lower unit yet, I have a service manual on the way but I had a question....I have had my motor on muffs haven't put it in the water as of yet, but if water is flowing out the exhaust at the prop and flowing out the slits above the cavitation plate isn't my water pump and impeller operating correctly? I am still gonna change it when the manual gets here, but I really would like to go put it in the water and run it a little before doing the impeller change if I know that it IS in fact working correctly.
