Motor is linked and syncd

pretty sure I have a leaking/blown upper crankshaft seal (parts coming)

my question is: it would scream in reverse (rev great). But in fwd, was only able to get one good run then no more than 2000 rpm with the hammer all the way down.

Could my control be fubared?

What do you mean by one good run?

If it worked properly initially then chances are there is something else wrong. Pull the cowling wrap off the motor and advance the control throttle lever fully forward. You should be able to see that the throttle arm on the engine has fully opened the carb throttle plates.

Another question

is the warmup lever suoopsed to move with the throttle? It will pop up a couple inches when I put the hammer down

Negative.

The warmup lever is to be operated ONLY when in neutral. Trying to shift gears with the lever up or move the fast idle lever once in-gear will damage the control mechanism. If the lever is moving when you advance the throttle, then something is wrong in the controller.

Is it repairable?

Its possible the (might not be the right term but) rollover cam is upside down in the control box. Take the box apart, check for proper grease. (it should be very slippery). Then look at how the fast idel lever is in relation to the slot in the roll over cam. Also check how the throtle advance (again maybe not the right name for the part) mech, is toothed with the actual throtle cable plastic advance peice. IF any of these parts are not put together correctly, then it won't work right. It took me 4 hours the first time to figure it out right. I got mine in peice's..... AS I recall the I had to play with how the plastic piece, and the actual throtle arm were toothed together, to get the proper full throtle range.

Sounds like fun. It has to be fubared. Throttle doesn't do anything till it's almost full down forward but reverse is hyper sensitive

I'd bet its the way the throtle cable and the leaver are engaged. Take it apart, I'll bet the last person who did, got it wrong.

Yep most likely. That would be my cousin. The same one that apparently timed it to 40* btdc. If I don't fly tomorrow I'll dig in and let yall know.

Take your patience pill first.........:p The main concept is to locate the lever, so that the teeth, engage the plastic cable thingy so both are in the middle of thier respective travel's. Pushing the lever forwards, moves the plastic thing backwards, to the maximum distance, and pulling the lever backwards, makes the plastic thing, travel its max in the other direction. Then once you have that range, on the throtle, it has to work on the shift cable......oh and then put it back together with the fast idel lever staying in the right spot,.. Oh but I am sure you can beat my four hours on it......;)

PS have lots of rags, and get new grease.........:D
