72 85 Hp Evinrude w/johnson controls

Please help,

I have a Evinrude motor with Johnson remote. I took the remote apart last year and now I am putting it back together and I have some extra wires. I have a grey, black and purple/green. The key does work and the motor runs but I did not notice the prop moving during testing. could those wires be for shifting?

Could be you need to adjust your cables a little. I did the same thing with my shifter last week. Wires should not have anything to do with that.

Gray is the tach lead. If you don't have a tach, tape the end of this lead so it does not ground out. Black is the control box ground. Purple- green goes to the shift selector switch.
