you probably will not get any more speed by going with a bigger prop..probably just lower RPMs...you could try raising your motor a notch or two...and getting a planing fin..if your rpms get much over 6K I would go with one 2" bigger pitch. you can also experiment with shifting weight around in your boat..I moved my center console forward 3" and it really helped.

also that 85 is the same weight as a 115, if you want more speed sale the 85 and get you a good used 115, I recommend one from at least 79' or newer.

My boat says its only rated for 110 hp, but whats 5 more horses? That woud not be out of the question if I found a good deal on one. I might try a fin and playing with the trim to get a little more speed and faster planing. When i got the boat the previous owner had the trim setting on the second notch out from the transom, and I have moved to to the third. I might try the 4th notch next time and see what it does. I planes out at just over 18 mph now, so maybe the next notch wont hurt that too bad.

the higher you can get your motor without the prop cavitating the better (less drag). the fin will help stop cavitation. also you can get a manual jack plate for under $100 this will help some also. but a 115 should be the real answer.
