Hello, I have a '72 Evinrude 125 and notice that, although I have the choke linkage ajusted correctly, when choking on a cold start, the solonoid (which I have changed out) dosent seem to quite pull the butterflies all of the way closed. It stops a little short so I actually have to manually pull the hand choke lever (full choke) to start it, then it will start fine thereafter mwith the electric switch. Noticing in the schematic diagram that there is a thermo ****ch tied into the electric choke circut, I am wondering if it could be not working propperly as there is no information about it in my shop manual.
Thanks

The thermo switch should be eliminated completely. There was a bulletin to that effect. Its hard to believe that after 30+ years its still hooked up.

If the solenoid doesnt pull the butterflies all the way shut, move the solenoid further down. The plunger is bottoming out in the solenoid and stopping the butterflies short.

Whoa! So I should remove the thermo switch and put a jumper there?
Ok, Thanks for your information. I assume that the thermo switch was originally for controlling full choke (all the way closed) at cold start, then marginal choke depending on temperature?
Thanks!!
